Kitchen Renovations and Remodeling
Most of us regard the kitchen as the hub of the home. Everything revolves around the kitchen. In the prospective home buyer’s mind, the one room of the home that can be guaranteed to stick in his or her memory, is the kitchen. Even though bathrooms are important and the landscaping will add to the kerbside appeal of the house, the kitchen remains the number one priority.
However, renovating the kitchen can be an expensive proposition and not a project to be undertaken lightly, which is where DIY skills and strategies come in. A DIY or Do It Yourself kitchen is very straightforward these days with the number of self-assembly cabinet systems on the market. The Kitchen Buyers Guide has advice and tips on design of kitchens
There is no doubt that a pristine, brand new kitchen is a huge selling point and if your old kitchen has tatty cabinets and benchtops, you should probably do it. However, if your kitchen is not too bad, basically sound but just showing signs of wear or maybe a little dated, then maybe it just needs brightening up with new doors and a benchtop. Perhaps a new oven, cooktop or rangehood too if the old ones are looking dated or worn.
Do remember though that the finish has to be very good, if not perfect. It’s always worth calling in specialist skills to ensure that all the hard work isn’t spoiled by rough edges, poorly fitted doors or a wonky bench top.
